Passion Fruit Body Butter

So while being away for the weekend with the family, (which I will be posting about very soon!!), I popped into The Body Shop, to make a quick purchase.

The weather was absolutely beautiful all weekend. While we were out shopping my legs got really dry and looked soo flakey, Cringe!! So I hurried over to make a quick purchase to moisturise my parched looking legs!!

The range in The Body Shop was HUGE! Each tub of body butter I opened made love to my nostrils! Seriously beautiful fragrances. So it was between the coconut body butter and the passion fruit body butter.

I bought the Passion Fruit Body Butter - Fruit De La Passion

So I bought the smallest version of this body butter, which is 50ml, mainly because I didn't know whether I'd like it. It was purely for a quick fix for my flakey legs.

But I'm half way through the tub and desperately need to repurchase!!

The body butter is gorgeous! It's described 'with passion fruit seed oil to moisturise. Normal/Dry skin'

The smell is so yummy, I could have literally taken a few chunks from my moisturised, beautiful smelling legs!!

So as it's a body butter, the consistency is quite thick, as you can see from the picture. I love moisturisers like these as I find them nice and easy to use and not very messy, I also find they massage well into the skin and absorb very easily, yet still giving off a nice glow.

I definitely recommend this product purely because of it's gorgeous smell of passion fruit. I will be checking out their other body butters soon. I was also very pleased with this purchase, as at the bottom of the tub, The Body Shop have written 'AGAINST ANIMAL TESTING'. I really disagree with animal testing, not to the extent that I check products but I do believe it should be stated clearly on the product, which in some cases, does not. But I guess some products aren't going to openly state on their products that they 'test on animals'.

Have you purchased any body butters from The Body Shop? Have you got any recommendations?
Thanks.

The Harrods Edition

So I received by special edition Harrod's Glossybox last week.

For those of you who don't know much about the Glossybox, It is a monthly subscription of £12.95, including postage. For that small price you get a beautiful box containing 5 samples of popular products. The idea is great for beauty lovers who want to try the new products but don't want to purchase the full product before they know it's the right product for them.

I was sooo disappointed with the previous glossybox. But they definitely made up for it in this months box. I loved the white and black box, looked really sophisticated and the green Harrods ribbon gave it a nice splash of colour. But what's in the box is more important!
So Here's what I got....

From left to right -

+ Bliss - Blood Orange and White Pepper Body Butter
+ Lancome - Juicy Tubes - Toffee R 'N' B 93
+ Revive- Intensive Creme Lustre SPF30
+ Versace - Vanitas Versace Eau De Parfum
+ Clarins - Extra - Firming Body Cream

I was pleased with each product in this month's box, However my favourite product was the Vanitas Versace Eau De Parfum. What a beautiful little sample.

It is described as 'A luxurious scent from the House of Versace. Vanitas is a rich and voluptuous fragrance with notes of tiare flower, lime and freesia.'

I absolutely love this scent and the gorgeous sample bottle just makes it even nicer. I will definitely be purchasing the full product soon!

What did you get in your Glossybox? Did you get this perfume too? What were your thoughts on this product?

Cymru

After Wales won the Rugby Six Nations 2012 cup on Saturday, I thought this post would be completely relevant as somebody else may want to celebrate Wales' win with a bit of baking!

My boyfriend recently got into the Under 18's Welsh Squad, which I was ever so proud of! Yet being called a 'WAG' by family and friends is slightly off putting to say the least, however the mulberry bag I've had my eyes on for months, now looks slightly promising.

So being the good girlfriend I am, I wanted to find something special to congratulate him with.  I looked everywhere. I couldn't find a thing!! There were welsh flags, and welsh mugs... But tbh, I think we all know that would have been a tad naff! So I decided to test my baking skills, and bake him some cakes.

So here's my beautiful red and green cupcakes!!

I knew I had to at least make the cupcakes the main colours of Wales, which are red and green. I did this by adding some green and red food colouring to the icing. After that I decorated them!! To create the design on top, I used icing pens, which I purchased from my local supermarket. These made things soo much easier. Although, you have to have a steady hand and patience to create the design you would like.

So he came into the kitchen, and seen these little beauties. He didn't know what to say. He looked soo surprised and happy, Just like when I found out about his amazing achievement. So congratulations Eth, and congratulations to the Welsh squad, who played great on Saturday!

What do you think of the cakes? Were you proud of Wales with their win?

Literally Lush!

So on Wednesday, I went up to Bristol to have an interview for university for a Journalism course. I didn't like the university at all... although the course looked really good!! So I'm in a little bit of a dilemma at the moment. Cardiff or Bristol -.-
So after I had my interview(Which went okay!!), I popped into Cribs Causeway shopping centre.

So as you can see, I visited Lush!

Now when ever I see a Lush shop, I go in, have a look, love the smells and then walk out empty handed. Why? I really don't know. But this time I came out with a gorgeous little paper bag. I LOVE paper-bags.

So what was in my little paper bag?
Look how yummy the packaging is. It's so colourful and pretty.

So firstly I bought the 'Rock Star' soap. This retails for £3.25 per 100g.

The soap is divine. Firstly the colour, wow what a gorgeous pink. The smell is perfect for a girly girl with a beautiful scent of candy! Yum! Now I'm not a girly girl myself, but on certain days I feel like a nice pamper night, also known as my girly night. So this is the perfect soap to chill out, relax, smell of sweet creamy candy and feel ever so girly and pretty.

After using this soap, I found that it didn't lather very well. Which i didn't really expect it to, Although it left my skin moisturised and candy scented for the whole day. Also, the Rock Star scent floated through my bathroom for a few hours which was great.

So secondly I bought the 'Hottie Massage Bar', which cost me £5.25 for a 90g bar.

Now as I work in a gym and my boyfriend plays a lot of rugby, we really enjoy giving each other massages with some of my moisturisers and oils after a hard training session. So when I seen this moisturising massage bar, I thought yes, finally. Someone has finally produced a moisturiser in a solid form so that it not only massages and work into the muscles, it also moisturises and leaves you smelling gorgeous.

The massage bar has a flat side to run over the skin and dissolve the butters, while the other side is moulded into lumps and bumps to knead and rub aching muscles. The bar is made out of Ginger Oil, Black pepper Oil, Jojoba, Cocoa Butter and Ginger.

My boyfriend really enjoyed this product, mainly because he hates sticky, wet moisturisers. So this was perfect, as it was a butter that dried fairly quickly but still left the skin glowing and moisturised. The fact that you could go from a nice smooth sensation with the flat end of the bar, so an intense massage with the other side, was great. This bar is great for anyone who loves massages and who sometimes needs to release the tension in their muscles.

. . .

Both of these products, I would recommend. Although as it was my first time using them, I can now see why you would need to purchase a 'massage bar tin' and a 'soap tin', so that you can keep the products in tack so that they will last longer.

Have you used these products? What do you think of them? Do you recommend any certain products for my next trip to Lush?

Thanks

MJ

Wednesday 7 March 2012

Hello, Bonjour, Hola, Ciao!

Welcome to MaryJanett's.

My name is Lauren and I am from Wales. I have a wonderful, supportive and caring family and also to mention a gorgeous boyfriend who thinks the world of me. Seriously. He's so sweet. I'm currently studying English, Drama and Business at my local sixth form and I am also applying for university to study Journalism. So that's where the idea to start my own blog basically came from.

I wanted to create MaryJanett's so I could get my opinions across and to practice my journalism skills and techniques. I don't want to say exactly what I'll be posting on this blog, mainly because I might not get round to it or decide to venture down another road. So I've came up with a few ideas to what I could post on here weekly.

As most of the blog's I follow, Makeup and clothing are going to be a must. I will be letting you know about any purchases that I've made, what I think of these purchases, where you can get them, what price and so on.

I would also like to post regularly about what I'm up to, whether it's where I've been for a nice meal, what I went to see in the cinema last week or any opinions I have that I feel I need to share with you.

Just like I'll be posting about my opinions every week, I would obviously love to hear back from you with any feedback. So please feel free to leave a comment below any post, anything negative, I can obviously try and learn from this and adjust.

Thank you very much for reading. I hope to hear from you soon.
Enjoy the blog.
